LINKAGE FRONT SUSPENSION AND WTF CHASSIS FAQ
Because the brand may be new, but the talented group of designers and engineers who created Structure have designed and manufactured some of the most highly reviewed and loved bikes in the world for decades. We designed the WTF suspension system because we thought the time was right. Trust our experience and come for a ride with us.
How does the weight of a linkage bike compare with a traditional bike with telescoping fork?
With careful component selection we can hit industry average weight of about 31 lbs., and we’ll keep working on weight:stiffness optimization for years to come. Goal number one? Build a bike that’s strong, stiff, incredibly fast, and won’t let you down.
Is a linkage bike reliable?
Yes. We have tested the WTF linkage system on some of the most technical and challenging trails in North America, and even distribution of forces through the system keeps any single bearing from taking maximum abuse. We also use large 30mm bearings and colleted 17mm axles at all main pivots to keep downtime to regular scheduled maintenance. If you need replacement bearings, get in touch and we’ll send out a service kit right away. We made them easy to replace, and hey, no more fork bushing and seal maintenance…ever.
Does a WTF chassis require any special maintenance?
No more than a rear linkage suspension system, and we made the process simple.
Can I run a bash guard or chain guide?
Absolutely. We designed the frame with ISCG mounts and made sure that a large number of favourite guides and/or bash guards will fit.
Why isn’t there impact protection at the bottom of the downtube?
We considered this carefully before determining that adding layers of woven carbon fiber at impact-prone areas of the frame – and augmenting those plies with clear protective film - offers protection we can stand behind while eliminating the need for a big plastic guard.
What chainrings can I run?
Up to 36-tooth Boost rings, or up to 32-tooth non-Boost rings. Check fit and clearance carefully when installing any new chainring.
What cranks can I use?
We use a 73mm threaded BSA bottom bracket for use with 24mm spindle-diameter cranks from many brands.
Why not a 29’er? Do you have plans for one?
We think that for the SCW 1’s intended use the 27.5″ wheel size is a great choice, and we have not come to regret it. The SCW 1 is nimble when managing precise, technical trails, eats up terrain like no other bike, and maintains composure when the going gets rowdy. Nevertheless, we like 29ers too, so stay tuned. We’re working on it.
How much does it weigh?
As soon as we get final builds on the scale, we’ll record the number here. Note that our aluminum bike weighs 14 Kg (31 lbs), and we have the same target for our carbon fiber bike.
Can I put a coil shock on my SCW 1?
Yes, at the rear, but space is tight up front. Don’t be surprised if we find a way in the future. Nevertheless, we think you’ll love the shocks we’ve chosen to spec.
What travel range is the SCW 1 designed for?
150mm front and rear. We don’t recommend experimenting with alternate shock lengths or other modifications, as the SCW 1 has been carefully designed for optimal performance with 150mm of travel.
What percentage sag do you recommend for the SCW 1?
30%. Your taste may vary.
What is the max tire size I can fit on the SCW 1?
27.5 x 2.6, with generous mud clearance.
What hubs do I need to use?
Front: Boost 110 x 15
Rear: Boost 148mm x 12mm with SRAM XD drive. We recommend 32 spokes. Spline count: Your taste may vary.
What type of headset does the SCW 1 use?
The SCW 1 uses Cane Creek IS 52/40 tapered headsets. This is a system that allows the headset cups and bearings to be housed inside our upper and lower head tubes, offering lower stack and width with increased stiffness.
Can I run a stealth seat post dropper on the SCW 1?
Yes. This is the only option our cable routing allows.
What size seat post does the SCW 1 use?
31.6”. Insertion Depth: 280mm on G1, 300mm on G2, and 320mm on G3
What size seat collar does the SCW 1 use?
How big of a rotor will fit on the SCW 1 and how does the caliper mount?
203mm front without spacer and 180mm rear with spacer (no spacer if using a 203mm at rear).
How do I change the bearings?
The bearings and twin lip bearing seals have been designed to be easily removed using conventional tools. Our bearings can easily be driven out from the opposite side of the frame, making maintenance easy.
What tools do I need to replace parts on the SCW 1?
Everything on a Structure frame can be disassembled using common bike mechanic tools. A pick may be used to remove the spherical bearing snap ring between the upper and lower steering links.
What is the crash replacement policy on my Structure bike?
If you have an accident and damage an SCW 1 frame, we offer replacement of the damaged frame part(s) at cost price.
What is the warranty on my SCW 1?
Lifetime warranty on frame and bearings for the original owner. Non-transferable. See our Warranty page for more details.
I am the second owner of my bike, Do I still have a warranty?
No. Our lifetime warranty is non-transferable. However, we sell crash replacement parts at cost. Contact customer service for details.

Can I order online from outside the US?
Yes, but we only deliver orders to physical mailing addresses. The shipping address on your order must be one to which FedEx can deliver to.
How much will shipping cost?
The most accurate way to know the shipping you will be charged is to place the items that you want in your cart and proceed with the checkout process. You will be shown the total price including shipping before the order is placed.
How can I track my order?
You can look up your tracking number by logging in to your Structure account on our website and then clicking the "order history" link in the drop-down menu on the left. We've teamed up with FedEx to provide you with the most accurate and up-to-date information on your package while it's in transit. Upon shipment, we will also send you an e-mail with your tracking number.
Visit www.fedex.com, enter your tracking number, and you'll see the latest updates of your shipment. If your account information does not update with your tracking number, contact our Customer Service Department at (866) 230-3567.
When will you ship my order?
We ship all orders received by 2:00 PM Mountain Time on the same business day (Monday through Friday). Otherwise, items will ship the following business day.
Once your order ships, delivery time will depend on FedEx and the method selected for shipping.
When FedEx has picked up your package and it goes into their system, a tracking number will be generated. This is visible from the "Order History" section of My Account, and then clicking "View Order".
If you have further questions on delivery, get your tracking number from our website and call FedEx at 1-800 GoFedEx (463-3339) or visit www.fedex.com and input your tracking number.
What credit cards do you accept?
We’re happy to accept payment via Visa, Master Card, American Express, Discover, and Paypal in North America. For orders outside of North America, payment methods may vary.
Please be sure to enter your payment information exactly as it appears on the credit card. Otherwise, there may be delays in processing your order. Your card will be billed at the time your order ships.
What other forms of payment do you offer?
In North America, we accept other forms of payment, including GPay, Apple Pay, and third-party financing. The best way to check if a payment option is to place an item in the cart and click through to payment options. You will not be billed unless you complete an order.
How do I cancel an order?
Orders can be cancelled at any time prior to clicking on the "Submit Order" button. If you have placed an order that needs to be cancelled, give us a call as soon as you can at (866) 230-3567. We will do what we can to stop the order. How do I determine the frame size of my bike?
First, look over your frame to see if there are any stickers indicating its size (for example: G1, G2, or G3). If a sticker indicating the size does not exist, follow these simple steps:
Note: The serial number does not directly indicate size, model, or year of a bicycle. If you do not know the model and year of your bicycle, you will need to contact customer service with your serial number so we can look up your bike’s details.
Where can I find my bike's serial number?
Our serial numbers are located on the bottom bracket shell of the frame. Structure serial numbers start with the prefix "SCW."
If you don't know where the bottom bracket shell of the bike is, simply turn the bike upside-down and the bottom bracket is the part of the frame that the cranks run through. You will see the serial number on a permanent sticker on the frame.
What are the recommended service intervals on shocks?
When your shocks are in regular use, a small amount of grease will purge from the seals. This is normal—it is not the oil leaking from the shock. These seals need to be damp with grease, and a little bit of oil on the shock is the sign that things are working properly.
To prevent wear and damage to the shock, we recommend the following maintenance schedule for shocks used on Structure bikes:
CAUTION! All internal shock maintenance must be performed by a professional bicycle service centre.
HOW HARD IS IT TO ASSEMBLE?
Assembly is very easy. We fully assemble the bikes at the factory and then remove only what is necessary for packing. Front and rear wheels and seat (already mounted to seat post) will need to be installed. Handlebar and pedals must also be installed. Each shipping case includes clear instructions and necessary tools for assembly.
DO YOU HAVE WOMEN’S SPECIFIC BIKES?
No, but we don’t have men-specific bikes either. Our bikes are for people who want the most advanced and capable bike on the mountain. If you ride a Structure bike, you are family. Enough said.
WHAT IF MY BIKE NEEDS SERVICE?
There are several ways you can get your bike serviced. If it’s standard maintenance, you can (1) check out our self-help tutorials in the owner’s manual that shipped with your bike, or see the support section of our website (in development at the time of this writing); (2) call us for help at 866-230-3567; or for annual service or more complicated repairs (3) take it to a local bike dealer (Structure bikes can be serviced anywhere).
Should I do my own repairs on a Structure bike?
Although we make our bikes to be easier to service than most, precision is critical, especially when it comes to fastener torque. As a result, we cannot recommend that customers perform repairs involving disassembly of any of the pivot or steering hardware on our frames. Please locate a qualified bicycle service centre for annual maintenance and for repairs involving disassembly of frame or steering pivots.

You’ll be able to visit our website for a copy, or see the website of the manufacturer of a specific component.
WHY AREN'T WEIGHTS LISTED IN THE SPECS ON THE WEBSITE?
Like many premier manufacturers, Structure does not list weights in the specs primarily because of accuracy. Each product varies in weight (because of differences in size, pedals, and tubes, tires, rims, saddles, and other components). We encourage you to weigh your bike yourself with the components that you ride with. We build the most advanced, most capable mountain bikes on the planet, and do not compromise quality, safety, or performance for a couple of ounces. We build our bikes to endure many years of abuse from the best riders in the world.
WHERE ARE YOUR BIKES MADE?
We design, engineer, and perform quality control inspection of our bikes in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Our frames are manufactured with our partner factory in Taiwan (where almost all high-end brand bikes are built). Our components are sourced from the most reputable brands in MTB.
HOW CAN I REGISTER MY BIKE?
From our home page footer, click on “register your ride”, fill out the required fields, and your registration will be complete.
Can I ride my bike if I see a crack or surface fractures on the frame?
You should always do a post-ride and pre-ride bike check. If while doing your pre-ride or post ride inspection of your frame and all its components you see a crack or surface imperfection, please contact your local dealer or email or call Customer Service.
How much torque should I use to tighten my bolts?
We recommend pivot hardware service be performed only by qualified bicycle service personnel. However, if you do choose to remove and reinstall pivot hardware on a Structure frame, be aware that torque settings are extremely important to reliability and overall performance. Specific torque values are located in the user manual, which can be downloaded from our website here.
